This week’s episode of The Biggest Loser headed to Washington, D.C. to educate Members of Congress about their journey. I think this is so important because these are the nation’s lawmakers. I’ve blogged about The Biggest Loser so many times showcasing the “science” behind their diets from the show’s dietitian all the way to asking “is The Biggest Loser scalable to the population?” Now, I have a real “Biggest Loser” as a co-presenter (Bernie – check him out here) bringing The Nurture Principles to people everywhere.
Here’s what they said to the Members of Congress, Sen. Gillibrand and Sen. Casey:
- Obesity and childhood obesity is a problem, it effects kids self-esteem (confidence and worth), grades suffer, and it stems from lack of education.
- They said people have no idea about food, where it comes from, what to eat, how to moderate processed foods etc.
- They asked for physical education and health education in schools. Hey, Bernie and I did too. See it here.
If you haven’t seen the show you can take a look at Mike Morelli’s recap at Diets in Review.
