The Nurture Principles is a different approach to wellness. The five mantras introduced in The Nurture Principles empower people to nourish their lives and find wellness within!
Ask anyone about wellness and they will likely say “eat right, exercise, and relax”. For most people, knowing what to do is not the problem – it’s actually doing it! What they lack is not “willpower,” but rather a true understanding of what influences health behaviors. By discovering how an imbalanced well-being can interrupt the flow of work, family, and social life, it becomes clear that personal barriers are keeping them off course. The Nurture Principles provide a foundation for personal growth.
Through storytelling and interactive games, Bernie and Becca help people deconstruct their internal barriers to wellness and take actions that will transform their lives from the inside out.

Why “Nurture”?
The 13th century “Nature vs. Nurture” theory describes how people learn behaviors. Nurture states that life experiences and environment dominate. Nurture means “education, growth, nourishment.” Nurturing yourself is at the core of our five principles.
History of The Nurture Principles
The Nurture Principles were born from kindred spirits. Becca and Bernie met volunteering their physical activity and weight loss expertise on Capitol Hill. When reflecting on the underlying barriers to wellness, they got tired of finishing each other’s sentences and decided to write it all down! A blend of lessons from their own life experiences and testimonials from people who have touched their lives, the Nurture Principles truly represent a collaboration of wisdom based on countless ups, downs, and breakthroughs discovered on the journey toward wellness.
